Reaching out for financial help can feel uncomfortable. Please know that this form is simply the first step in understanding whether we can support you in a way that is responsible and sustainable for everyone involved.

We offer short-term, interest-free loans designed to relieve immediate hardship — not to create further financial stress.

This stage helps us determine whether you are eligible to move forward to the full loan application, or whether we can suggest some other support that may be available.

Before you Begin…..

  • It is estimated for most people, this form will take 10 minutes to complete.

    No extra documents are required at this stage.

    Completing this form does not guarantee approval.

    If your eligibility is confirmed, you will receive an email inviting you to complete the Full Application, where we will request supporting documentation to verify your income and ability to repay.

    Once you submit this form, we aim to respond as soon as possible (within 2–3 working days.)

  • Our loan fund is designed to support people facing short‑term hardship or unexpected life events. The two‑stage process helps us:

    • make sure the loan is the right support for your situation

    • avoid asking you to complete a long form if you’re unlikely to be eligible

    • respond faster when the need is urgent

    • keep the process simple, respectful, and fair

    Stage 1 is quick.

    Stage 2 is more detailed and only offered to people who meet the basic criteria.

    This protects your time and helps us help you sooner.

  • Stage 1 of this process is designed to:

    • Confirm that your situation falls within our hardship criteria
    • Ensure you have a stable income source
    • Confirm that repayment appears reasonably achievable
    • Protect both you and our Foundation by screening for basic eligibility

    We are committed to being fair, ethical and responsible in how we lend.

    You don’t need documents at this stage — just honest answers so we can understand whether our fund is the right fit.

    • assess whether our loan fund is suitable

    • contact you about next steps

    We keep your information confidential and treat every application with dignity and respect.

  • Once you submit this form (Stage 1 )

    • A trustee will review your answers

    • We may contact you if we need clarification

    • We aim to respond as soon as possible, usually within 1–3 working days

    You will receive one of the following outcomes:

    Invited to Stage 2

    You meet the basic criteria and we’ll send you the full application.

    Not Eligible

    If the loan fund isn’t the right support, we’ll let you know and, where possible, suggest other pathways.

    More Information Needed

    If something is unclear, we may ask a quick follow‑up question before deciding.

  • Stage 2 is the full application.

    It gathers more detailed information so we can make a fair, informed decision and ensure repayments are realistic and safe for you.

    You’ll need to provide some uploaded supporting documents such as:

    Proof of Identity

    • NZ Driver Licence (front and back), or

    • NZ Passport

    Proof of Residential Address Document dated within the last 3 months showing your name and address. Accepted documents include:

    • Bank statement

    • Tenancy agreement

    • Utility bill

    • Official letter (IRD, employer, government agency)

    • Insurance or mobile phone account

    If you are currently moving house:

    • New tenancy agreement OR

    • Bond confirmation OR

    • Landlord confirmation letter

    Proof of income

    • details of your weekly expenses

    Uploaded PDF copy of Bank Statement (last 30 to 60 days)

    • Copy of recent pay-slip

    • a quote or invoice for what you need support with

    • supplier details (who the payment will go to)

    The Stage 2 Application takes around 30–40 minutes to complete, even less if you have your supporting documents ready

  • We are legally and ethically required to ensure that any loan issued is suitable and affordable.
    We may decline applications where:

    • Repayment appears unlikely or unsustainable
    • Information provided cannot be verified
    • The loan falls outside our hardship criteria

    Providing inaccurate or misleading information may result in automatic decline.

    We reserve the right to request further clarification before progressing an application.

We want to help as many people as we can but are unable to support if:

  • Work and Income can help with the purchase

  • you are on Single Jobseeker Support Benefit

  • you are not able to make reasonable sustainable repayments
